WELCOME TO SOUTHWARK’S CHILDREN AND FAMILIES DIVISION
Message from the Director…
Southwark really works as a place to grow and develop as a social worker. We have worked hard to build a place where social workers can do what they do best, build relationships with others to improve the lives of children, young people and those that care for them.
Our services have been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted for over a decade, and we continue to strive for excellence and the best possible outcomes for our children and families. Our last graded Ofsted inspection noted:
“Southwark attracts experienced, high-quality social workers who are keen to work in small units that employ systemic methods…”
“The model is well-resourced and features clinical and group supervision alongside manageable caseloads. This promotes influential and effective direct work with children and families”.
“The model is enabling a flourishing social work culture in the local authority, equipping social workers to address complex local concerns in this highly diverse community”.
We have a well-embedded practice model under pinned by the fairer future values of the council. Systemic practice and strength-based approaches are central. Working alongside embedded Clinical Practitioners and dedicated business support really works to support practice.
We continue to provide fantastic career progression opportunities. Supported by great partnerships and resources we are always growing and developing what we do through innovation, investment in our workforce and, most importantly, listening to children and families, and those that work with them.
Southwark really works as a place to grow and develop as a social worker.
Our vision for Southwark
Every child, young person and family in Southwark thrives and is empowered to lead a safe and healthy life.
We will work together to deliver high quality services that make a measurable difference in helping to overcome inequality and disadvantage, and strengthens families’ abilities to raise their children successfully and independently.
